May 3 | 4:00 pm Location: Barshop Jewish Community Center of San Antonio 12500 NW Military Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78231 On June 7, 1907, a ship packed with Russian Jews set sail for a promised land: not Jerusalem or New York, as many on board had dreamed, but Texas. This was the beginning of the Galveston Plan, a forgotten episode of US history during which ten thousand Jews fled the persecution and brutality of the Russian Empire for the Gulf Coast. Journalist and historian Rachel Cockerell writes of this in her new book, Melting Point: Family, Memory, and the Search for a Promised Land.

Wednesday, April 1, 2026 | 7:30 PM We are excited to be able to welcome everyone for Seder so we can eat, sing and tell the story of Passover together again! This relaxed Passover Seder is a perfect way to celebrate the holiday with the community. There is limited seating. The Seder will take place in the Holzman Auditorium at the Campus of the San Antonio Jewish Community. Vegetarian options available. Manischewitz and grape juice will be provided.
