Film Festival History
Held annually, typically in February, the Jewish Film Festival was conceived in 2001 by Mel Pomerantz whose persistent efforts brought it to life. Films are selected through an arduous process that includes identifying, researching, and screening more than eighty films each year to select the best to present to the community. We thank our loyal patrons for returning to the Festival year-after-year.

The Festival has been held at a number of locations, including the Barshop JCC in the Holzman Auditorium, San Antonio Museum of Art, Santikos Bijou Cinema Bistro, and our current home, Santikos Embassy 14.

The Sequel
In addition to the annual Jewish Film Festival, the JCC features extra film screenings throughout the year. This series of films, also selected by the Festival Committee, is aptly called "The Sequel", and offers the community the opportunity to enjoy cinema outside of the Film Festival. The JCC also hosts a number of Film Events throughout the year in conjunction with Jewish holidays, special celebrations, and more.
