Your Story: Meet Eddie Klauer

Eddie KlauerAlthough Ed technically joined the JCC in 2005, he started his J journey back in 1976 with his sisters and mother. Ed jokes about how his mom enrolled him and his siblings on the JCC Swim team so they would be too tired to get into trouble. It looks like Ed’s mother was on to something, since her son is now Sgt. Edward Klauer, the head of San Antonio Police Department’s hostage negotiations team as Crisis Negotiation Detail Supervisor, and is in charge of 40 tactical medics.

Ed’s goal of trying to get a physical workout in six times a week is accomplished in the Hendin Fitness Center, where he spends much of his time. Whether it is lifting weights or swimming in the outdoor heated pool, Ed always finds time to get his workout on, even with his busy schedule.

But his schedule is about to open up quite a bit! With retirement on the horizon, Ed is looking forward to spending even more time at the J. “The staff is outstanding, [the facility] is always clean, and the equipment is updated and maintained on a regular basis,” he notes.

Ed we are happy You Belong Here®, and thank you for your service in the SAPD.
